Only windows? That's gonna be a no from me dawg.

I didn't look at the website, but seriously? Only Windows? What world is the author living in? Are they mentally trapped in 2001 or something? Any chat program that doesn't work on smartphones is dead in the water these days.

> Are they mentally trapped in 2001 or something?

Doesn't appear to be the case. A lot of the code is just very old and used to work on linux before Mono dropped support, and the author simply didn't have the spare time to fix it.

Sad. Well, I've lost a lot of admiration for Cloudflare. Shame.

Just because an employee who worked 4.5 months with zero sales gets laid off? This is the problem with social media, now people think whoever makes the most noise is right. I've seen people getting fired for far less and they didn't make a fuss about it anywhere.

Nobody actually makes many (or any) enterprise sales in Q4, also in the video it’s made clear that the whole departments getting a culling. Which makes it a really botched layoff.

No, for the way the anon HR folks and the company as a whole handled it.

It is every company in the United States. They are not supposed to say anything to avoid getting sued. Watch similar videos. You will hear HR not giving any information because any word is a risk of getting sued.

Agreed. At least with Brave Search premium you don't need an account for the paid session. I wish Kagi did the same. Instead, it's a "Trust me bro" that they aren't logging search queries.

Brave search premium asked me to enter my email. Seems like it requires an account.

Regardless, there’s nothing to stop Mullvad, Brave, Kagi, or any other company from logging and doing attribution. Trust is part of the equation.

Hi, Brave engineer here,

I'd like to mention that when you subscribe to Brave Search premium, it is completely decoupled from the searches you then make (no way for us to link your email to your searches) by relying on blinded tokens to prove that you are premium, but without the backend knowing which account (and using one new token per search in order to avoid being able to build search sessions).

I hope that helps,

Are you making any progress with Apple on getting Brave Search into Safari’s list of search providers?

Sadly, due to some scientists no longer including ethics in their research, by fudging data to keep their funding, siding with corporate interests, and showing their elitism by treating their word for gospel as if they're infallible.

I mean Ilya said it himself in a roundabout way https://twitter.com/ilyasut/status/1707752576077176907

Wow. Straight up theft by the people meant to "protect and serve". And people really wonder why I'm a Libertarian.

Libertarians don't have a monopoly on concern about abuses. But here you go:

I didn't expect to laugh so much first thing today, thank you for that link!

I operated N4BB.com, which was one of the largest BlackBerry fan sites. We had many insider contacts and broke many large, exclusive stories. Fun times. Miss them.

Unfortunately, the way Mike Lazaridis was depicted in the recent Docudrama about BlackBerry it wasn't too far from the truth. They really believed Apple was lying about an all-touch, physical keyboard-less phone. Following the media buzz about the iPhone, Verizon put a lot of pressure on RIM to release a competitive device. The half-baked Storm 9500 was so rushed it released with a non-touch optimized OS that was hardly responsive to the piezo screen. Not to mention the bezel had such a gap around it that pocket lint often got stuffed in and under the screen, preventing the physical click. Sad.

Compounded by other failed strategic decisions/devices such as the PlayBook tablet and refusal to pay triple A developers to port their apps to BB10, it was a nail in the coffin by their own doing. There was such a hierarchical structure that completely stifled innovation.

A bitter-sweet story indeed.

I used to frequent N4BB back in the day, and thank you for your efforts. Moved from BB to Android, but still miss the little trackball and physical keyboard at times, as Google continues to enshittify Gboard.

I've got a couple of side projects that I've built primarily out of the necessity for them to exist. I'm deeply in the red and who knows if I'll ever get in the black. They have taught me a lot along the way, which if in the end is all that I've gained from them, then so be it.

// CoinFundIt -https://coinfundit.com

Decentralized, open-source, non-custodial, non-KYC Bitcoin and Altcoin crypto crowdfunding, donations, and atomic swap exchange.

It's built as a native reactJS web app. Also working towards iOS/Android apps. There is also a mirror of the service in IPFS and Tor.

The value proposition from the likes of GoFundMe and other services is that CoinFundIt allows uncensorable funding. The payments are directly paid out without any intermediary gatekeeping. We'll see if it ever catches on and helps folks who might live under a totalitarian regime.

// h4x0r army - https://h4x0r.army

I'm deep into infosec, cybersec, and hacking. I'm also a huge supporter of open Web and the fediverse.

Recently, I've spun up a Mastodon server which can support thousands of active members, for the purpose of building a community for hackers and other technologists.

The server name is sort of a joke and my admin account as well is for humour. As "1337 h4x0r" is an obvious joke at this point.

Along with real tips and news, I'll sometimes share memes and funny videos of pretend 1337 hacking. Nevertheless, registration is open, so all are welcome!

Thank you for the ability to share my side projects, cheers.

You should check out Session. Their CTO apparently uses his PGP key to sign every release https://twitter.com/session_app/status/1514108746854985730
