I can count on one hand, the number of times where I have gone “gosh, I so wish my voice assistant was better”.
It queues up music correctly, and picks the right destination on maps in my car. 98% use case satisfied. Would I like it to be better? Don’t really care. Is it a purchasing point? Nope. Would I miss it if it disappeared tomorrow? Also nope.
A better voice assistant is a major selling point for me. I need glasses to use my phone. Messages, email, purchases, directions, constantly. A good voice commands would be godsend. Siri doesn’t work very well
“Lost all ambition for anything else” is a funny way for the article to frame “hate being forced to run on the hampster wheel on ai, because an exec with the power to fire everyone is foaming at the mouth about ai and seemingly needs everyone to use it”
To add another layer to it, the reason execs are foaming at the mouth is because they are hoping to fire the as many people as possible. Including those who implemented whatever AI solution in the first place.
Another way is to get them to put marks/signatures over the back of the blank. Overlay to e blank, and cut Wally out of it where he occurs on the actual page and give them the cutout.
> Apple Music, which for years didn't know what they were doing
You pay them money, they let you stream music and otherwise stay out of your way. I don’t know about you, but that’s pretty much ideal as far as I’m concerned.
I still remember Apple Music App was all about the magical "Next Song" and they went their way to hide Repeat One button because they want you to do "Discovery".
It wasn't until about 2020 before they relented. But that ideal is still true with Apple Music today.
... and they let you upload music and have it exist natively in the interface and streamable anywhere you're logged in, the exact feature I was using Google Music for.
Even beyond Apple Music, considering the other competitors I legitimately don't know what the use case for Spotify is beyond social these days.
Woah woah woah, you’re ignoring a whole revenue stream caused by deliberately complicating the ecosystem, and then selling tools and consulting to “make it simpler”!
Think of all the new yachts our mega-rich tech-bros could have by doing this!
Tool search is formalising what a lot of teams have been working towards. I had previously called it tool caller, the LLM knew there was tools for domains and then when the domain was mentioned, the tools for the domain would be loaded, this looks a bit smarter.
Well, that’s because…they’re not text messages.
