Haters

Admit to yourself that you have an internet addiction. Come to terms with it.

I had a major issue a few months ago, until I realized I truly was addicted. After that I started cutting things out, and now I spend less than 30 minutes a day online, and I don't miss a thing. Actually, my mind is much clearer.

You won't be able to get depth in your thoughts if you keep feeding yourself bits of useless info.

Depression is not a state of mind. That's not what depression is.

I went through the same thing. The best advice I can give you now is to go chiropractor that specializes in many different types of medicines. DO NOT go to a regular MD - they will not help you any.

Depression is a symptom, and can be caused by a variety of factors. You need someone who is unbiased and well educated, and a well-rounded chiropractor is a great starting point.

Nutritional Deficiencies Toxicity Malfunctioning (thyroid, adrenal)

these are all major possible contributing factors that need to be checked.

You can email me at anony304@gmail.com and I'll help you try to figure out the root. Detail in your symptoms helps too (e.g. do you get dizzy when you stand up, are you lethargic, digestive irregularities, etc).

Actually I think I could probably help you or at least narrow the root problem if you emailed me. It's a long dark road when you feel overwhelmed by information.

I've seen so many doctors that did nothing to help me - not for any other reason but the fact that they were uninformed, or biased. Read so many books about depression cures that were curing a root that was different from mine. In that time I'm learned a lot about medicine and what's important. If I could pass that knowledge on to someone else I'd be happy to do it.

Good advice.

And after you're done with the chiropractor, check in with an acupuncturist, a touch therapist, a reflexologist, and a holistic bowel cleansing expert.

Do NOT do this until you've had your fortune told by a Tarot card reader, though! It's also advisable that you do not begin homeopathic treatment until Venus is aligned with Scorpio in transit to Pisces.

Depression is something that can only be cured if you detoxify your aura, so be sure to begin a daily pineapple-juice fasting regimen before emailing the undoubtedly medically qualified bpourriahi for the kind of life-saving diagnosis that Evil Corporate Big Medicine doesn't want you to know!

tl;dr: You are not a medical professional. Stop giving mystical new age quack advice to a person who could quite possibly have a real disorder.

There is a good chance that the more 'boring corporate' people tend to keep to themselves more. I don't imagine serious startups are always glaring things in your face about the technologies they use, which comes off as 'web startup land' to people who are willing to read that kind of stuff. (not that I'm any different)

I bet there's a whole other demographic of serious business people who are busy getting things done instead of discussing unrelated matters, or in other words, doing things that aren't work-related.

There is. For example, all tier 1 investment banks use Java for their trading infrastructure (as well as C++).

There's a website out there called InfoQ, I think that's where all the enterprise folk hide

What's your blog's address?

lots of people have asked me that as of late presumably from looking at my profil, so I just added it there

Can someone explain how to downvote something? I only see an up arrow next to posts.

You can down-vote after reaching a particular karma threshold.

At this point, you need 500 karma to downvote, per pg:

Don't make external goals. Only make internal goals. Judge yourself based on that.

Why do you care to judge an abstraction of another abstraction? How about judging the idea itself?

- stop relying on advice given by anyone not where you want to be

- the amount of revenue a business makes is based on the amount of value it is able to generate for other people. focus yourself on generating value, whether it is directly for consumers/businesses are a business, or as a proxy working for a business and delivering value through the business.

A business cannot survive without generating value. Focus on the core of business and work from there. Figure out ways you can most effectively deliver value, then start from there.
