buying a stock on web2 vs web3 gives interesting properties because of ownership.

for ex: take an instant USD loan on your stock, since you are the owner only your authority(signature) is needed. In web2 world you go through middlemen.

for me, cannabis is only useful for sleep and sometimes blank canvas thinking.

some of the cc0 licensed NFTs encourage replicas :)

will minting a replica give me gated access to discord?

or showcase my collection on gallery.so?

also some of the popular NFTs these days are cc0 licensed, so they do in fact encourage copies! I hope the trend continues.

1. Social recovery methods. 2. Even if you use a hardware wallet you still need to backup your seed phrase offline.

there is practically no attack vector in using infura.

Infura can't fake your can't fake your cryptographic signature. Worst case, they censor txs from your address at which point you can run your own node.

I'm not even talking about an attack vector. I'm talking about a centralized system that is recommended by other developers when Ethereum keeps on making claims of moving forward centralized systems.

If you are an optimist, HN is not the right place to have a "pro" discussion imo. I will outline products that i'm most excited about or use regularly .

1. Decentralized exchanges: Uniswap.org, projectserum.com.

2. Stablecoins, especially USDC. I get paid for my consulting in USD from US to India with a tx fee of $0.00025 on Solana. I'm saving a lot compared to using PP/Payoneer.

3. Supporting artists I love with NFT on foundation/ opensea/magic eden(for some reason I never did this before although there are web2 sites for it).

4. Generate yield on your stable coins. I wont mention apps here since they are new and have some smart contract risks to it, DYOR.

5. Creator monetisation using unlock-protocol.com and mirror.xyz.

6. Play to earn models in games(Axie infinity and Aurory).

7. Internet native experiments on inclusive sybil resistant identities(proofofhumanity.id)

8. Crypto powered infrastructure networks (helium.com)

9. Inflation resistant currency/Digital gold(Bitcoin & lightning network).

10. Censorship resistant social media.

I mostly optimize for dev time over performance.

Next.js, Vercel + API functions, DigitalOcean postgres with Prisma.

The biggest dev bottleneck for me was styling & css(mostly because I put away learning it!), tailwind ui components have been a big saver.

I believe all NFTs should be in public domain, in the same spirit as open-source.

recent NFT projects like Nouns[1] and many others have taken this approach!

https://vitalik.ca/general/2021/03/23/legitimacy.html

"Legitimacy is a pattern of higher-order acceptance. An outcome in some social context is legitimate if the people in that social context broadly accept and play their part in enacting that outcome, and each individual person does so because they expect everyone else to do the same."
