Apple's footprint in BigCorp is a drop in the ocean compared to MS. You said it yourself, "certain software they depend on only exists in the Windows world". That is intentional and the reason is because of MS dominance in BigCorp. Most makers don't find it worthwhile to spend so much time and resources building software for Apple when it has so few users at that level.

Lovely interface. This is quite impressive. I can't seem to get a terminal running though. Can I actually execute scripts here? I opened code and created a hello.py, terminal did not come up in Code either.
Yup. It is now ad after ad. For me, it's long form ads too. So it would be a whole interview with some celebrity or CEO just randomly popping. Besides the Liberty Liberty nonsense, the shortest ones I am getting are whole movie trailers. It's crazy.
What does it take to build such a model? As in, the key steps. And how expensive does it get? I might be interested in being a regional player and winner as well, lol. In my own corner of the world in Africa.
Not much... Just the willingness to work hard on this problem instead of others problems where large revenue is perhaps quicker :)
Ingredients:
Decent audio scraping skills, hiring great voice actors for each language, algos to gather text/audio with diverse phonetics, decent ML skills (enough to merge the best features of a few different papers). Lots and lots of data labels (and your own tools to get the data labeled efficiently) And finally GPUs!!!!
None of this is technically hard... the hardest thing is working with Voice Actors (oh man!!!)
