The papers from 2013 are available on the TREC notebook page http://trec.nist.gov/pubs/trec22/trec2013.html . This contains all of the TREC tracks (i.e., microblog and crowdsourcing).

You can find other years here http://trec.nist.gov/proceedings/proceedings.html

You can always deactivate your account and only enable it when you need to use it.

The classes will be live streamed. I don't think there are any more "free" seats left.

Live stream includes all tutorials, Piazza forum enrollment, etc. So identical to being there, save the trip to Berkeley and free soda.

Can the videos be made available after hours? I'm not able to get time away from work those 2 days. thanks

Yep, videos and exercises will be archived for posterity. Will take a few days to get them posted.

Wat?

"Engineering department taught by non-engineers" You mean because CISE profs don't take the FE/PE? Is it because they haven't taken the order of the engineer oath? What makes one an engineer?

According to the proposal "Roughly half of the faculty will be offered the opportunity to move to ECE, BME or ISE."

The dean also stated several times and faculty must be accepted into this different dept. So it is not clear who which faculty will be allowed to continue research.

Has anybody tried out the "How are your sites connected?" demo? It connected several 'twitter' sites hosted on app-engine. Such as:

http://liuhui0803.appspot.com/ http://jasonfose.appspot.com/ http://jay98888.appspot.com/

ABC News has been saying these protest started peacefully and then turned violent by other groups.

fyi, If you click on the kid on the bottom right corner of http://underthesite.com/ he blinks.

Nice. but you have to click on the kid, NOT!

"The planet is tidally locked to the star, meaning that one side is always facing the star "

How is the gravity about the same as earths if the planet does not spin, or is the planet spinning at the same rate that it is revolving around it's star, like the moon. So I guess gravity does not just come from the centripetal force. Are there any other forces that contribute to planetary gravity? If not the planetary year should be very small.

...rambling

Gravitational force is dependent on mass, not how much an object is spinning.

So centripetal force is independent from planetary gravitational force...

I hope that they get a handsome reward (in $$) from the university for that.
