jQuery is v4 now, but a lot of sites esp. wordpress still have 1.11 or 1.12 and only uses them to either doing modals(popover), show/hide(display), or ajax(fetch).

WordPress ships with 3.x and is already looking to update to 4

I was talking about a lot of sites in wordpress, not Wordpress themselves

If people haven't updated their sites in 10+ years, that's their problem. Has nothing to do with wordpress or jQuery

I believe apple is making OCI-compliant containers which is written in swift. I hope this helps the containerization in FreeBSD.

Just this week the foundation dropped an article about OCI compliant containeraztion: https://freebsdfoundation.org/blog/oci-containers-on-freebsd...

Thats cool I knew those were coming but the most interesting thing in here is that it seems to be running the Linux images under the Linuxlator (hence he had to enable the linux service) as opposed to creating a Linux VM like the other operating system do. Pretty cool!

This is awesome. I have an Omada container running on my desktop that would be great to move to my FreeBSD server.

In what sense? FreeBSD had containers before anyone heard about Docker ;)

Yeah talk about reinventing the wheel so Linux people don’t have to learn a slightly different system (one that is ironically easier to use and better organized than Oci containers).

Jails are not containers.

By what definition would LXC be containers and jails not be?

Jails are great but are not OCI-compliant.

Then Podman for FreeBSD exists for a while too.

But it relied on Linux virtual machines didn't it?

So? They predate a standard which was basically extracted from Docker.

I think the OCI factor being noted here is the packaging not the containerized runtime.

Probably related to AI, given how closely integrated both WSL and AI is

> Honest question: how do you deal with with those minor but insufferable Windows' quirks like 0d0a line endings, selective Unicode support, byte-order-marks and so on.

exactly why I use WSL, lf-only line endings, UTF-8, everything a basic debian bookworm iso can provide, plus docker with GPU Access

debian bookworm; just to get my work, and hobbies done

One nice thing about SVGs is that they can be connected to the dom, you can do css, and easier to debug than canvas. Performance is the only thing holding it back from making declarative code for plotting and mapping charts.

What performance issues have you encountered? Perf was decent 10 years ago so long as you avoided filters, but even that has improved.

I figured at that time that svgs with a lot of path slows the app. It was about the time where I toyed with d3 and geojson too.

I needed SVG and CSS animations to work together

> The future of paper is here

Off-topic: If the future is less paper, then should we dig more holes in the earth's surface to make digital papers. I mean the alternative is just replanting.

  for i := range [10]struct{}{} {

The only concern I have with WSL 2 is RAM usage and disk usage. The RAM gradually increases its capacity and The disk uses half of the total capacity but have actual empty space. I guess this is by design but I couldn't play or install anymore games without shutting down the WSL or releasing some disk space.

I bet they don't even know gif usage in discord and twitch but yeah "younger people", and "art expression" sounds like a subjective opinion.
