My wife and I started a business built around helping people reduce the amount of single-use plastic they send to landfill. The zero waste movement is growing super fast. https://wildminimalist.com if anyone is interested.

PG SEES ALL.

That's dangerous ground Rahil - you should post an "Ask HN" instead of turning this into a shit-talk-a-thon.

You're right, oversight on my part.

All the best with your next venture Max.

Hey Maciek,

Thanks so much for the kind words. I totally get your point about the TO zombies, but on the other hand, companies like Nulayer are actually doing great work and are getting rewarded for hard work with success.

Here's to trying again.

I love this thread - it really encapsulates the debate around the product that was ever-present for us. Turns out it was fairly controversial...

One thing is for sure though - the problem of "user onboarding" and conversion exists, and people are actively trying to solve it.

Hopefully the folks from iridize, tutorialize.me, walkme, taurus, etc etc will be able to take up the reigns and build a scalable business around it.

Hey Noel,

Thanks for the kind words - you were one of our earliest adopters, and I'm sorry we couldn't make it work out. There's a few people who have reached out that are interested in the technology, so we'll have to wait and see about open sourcing it.

Best of luck with Happy Tables and give my best to the folks over at ClickBank!

Another early adopter here, sad to see you go.

We got a little worried when you pivoted as we felt that it would be just as much work to embed the Kera solution as it would to roll your own goal tracking solution with much tighter integration with the base website.

We would Would love to see you open source the v1 product though, really felt that solved a much harder problem.

Even if it's not open, could sell the self-hosted for a yearly license, definitely a good way to continue getting revenue on it.

Yes, we've received a few inquiries about that.

Totally agree. I suppose that many founders just don't see recruiting that way immediately?

Couldn't be happier for Alex and his team. Big up Toronto startups!!

PD has development offices in TO? Awesome! Love these guys. Good to know.

What about when Gmail moved to the new compose format? They totally did an overlay style walkthrough to get existing users accustomed to it.

Doesn't that undermine your argument and example?

No, it didn't convince me to keep using Gmail. It was a change I embraced, but I don't use Gmail anticipating what they're going to introduce next.
