Wow. Very cool to see one of Joan's posts here on HN. I have discovered his videos on Youtube half a year ago and every single time I think to myself "wow, what a banger". Speculators fall in a gray area and need to be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. many of them are straight up scams, Some are legit, and the rest are in between. Stratton Oakmont was a scam. Does that mean your index-fund is also one? Or the stock market and financial system as a whole?

It is very plainly visible that society has not been benefited much from the public service of many of those people. In fact, it has declined dramatically.
