Maybe for our tenth anniversary we should update the codebase and finish some features we haven’t touched in a decade…

A friend of mine uses frinkiac all the time, I wasn't sure where he was sourcing all these quotes/memes from until he told me about it a few months ago.

Awesome to see you're on HN. I'll take the opportunity to say thanks for this service! We're of that cohort who grew up on the simpsons and it formed a large part (a majority?) of our humour.

Brings joy and laughs to my friend group at least!

Thank you for putting together and maintaining Frinkiac!

I use Frinkiac multiple times a week to share memes with friends. We all grew up watching S1-8 weeknights over dinner and can quote those episodes almost flawlessly.

Would love to read some blog posts on how the site works, anecdotes from 10 years of maintaining it, legal troubles faced (etc)!

We launched Feb 2, 2016 so almost a decade since then! Of course, we ran it for just ourselves a bit longer so it’s been slightly over a decade at this point.

Have you written about the tech behind Frinkiac and Morbotron at all? I'm super curious how it works (although I'm sure I could guess), and also how it might be generalized for other shows. Hosting infrastructure and cost to run would be interesting too!

Has it been that long? I remember having a ton of fun with it when it first launched.

Great job.

Congratulations, really nice! I wasn’t aware of this.

The shark line is a quote from Futurama in an episode where an 80s corporate raider takes over Planet Express.

DF already has a vibrant Patreon community so they’re not starting from scratch on funding themselves. I’m excited to see what they can do going forward.

Thanks for posting! I had forgotten just how long a road this was, but I'm very pleased that the requirements we talked about years ago have been met. :)

That's not to say this is done! There's a set of features we still want to add and we'd like to gain some confidence in the APIs as structured before we mark them as stabilized.

Looking forward! Thanks for maintaining such an awesome library btw, most of my internal PKI (X.509 and OpenSSH) is managed with it. It's a bliss to work with, even more so compared to other crypto libs. :)

The article states it's the French version of the Mars wikipedia entry and the repository has a link to the file he used in the readme: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lemire/unicode_lipsum/main...

This is an account linked to a gmail address with no other comments on the tracker. Is there any evidence this is/was a Google employee and not just a random troll in the issue tracker?

Occasionally that “similar sound” proclivity leads them down confusing paths: witness stage manager and center stage, which many people seem to struggle with separating!

Do you have a source for this claim? As far as I’m aware Azure racks mac minis and has no special license, but I’d be fascinated to be wrong.
