I recently helped my parents buy a Tesla. Shopping the SUVs it was confusing to us comparing the X and the Y. From what we could tell the only major difference between X and Y was the X’s acceleration and top speed which we didn’t care about. Twice the money for X and it just didn’t make any sense at all to even consider buying the X over the Y

The way it’s set up on their website right now, it’s very confusing why anyone would want a model X. It’s double the price of a model Y with very few ostensible improvements other than acceleration and top speed.

Commenting on hacker news is kind of like commenting on /r/askhistorians or asking a question on stackoverflow, it’s a tough crowd, I don’t blame you!

Perhaps because it links to a Reddit post

This is not a new finding

*aging

“Ageing” is in the original title and is also correct.

It's only correct if you're in the UK or Canada

I feel like it’s gotten better recently

Woah woah woah I just read it I didn’t sell it to anybody

Every US voter should have an America app that allows us to vote on stuff like the Estonians do

how does this work in practice? is there any buffer in place to deal with the "excitability" of the mob? how does a digital audit trail prevent tampering?

Coefficient voting control, like kind of PID. reduce effect of early voters and increase effect of later voters. Slope of voter volume as response to an event determines reactivity coefficient. Might dampen reactivity and create an incentive for people to not feel it's pointless to vote after a certain margin is reached

Estonians don’t vote on individual laws

“a resurgence with new tooling and polish”
