I am planning to release the source very soon that is why i left the license file, but I'll remove it to avoid the confusion for now until I release the source.
The word "mint" really takes the meaning out of the word "mine". True though, minting is part of the economics included in mining.
Usually governments mint coins, but no government (or centralized entity) currently operates a legitimate network that matches up with the same properties as bitcoin.
Governments need to mine or turn to mining companies to get the raw material that makes their coins. This is what you are doing with cryptocurrency. You look for the bits that make a coin valid and then the network mints the coin.
Came here to mention this! Recently I spent some time evaluating snips, doing some research and looking at documentation without actually starting anything.
Decided to dive in, only to realize they blocked new console sign-ups, having been acquired by Sonos. Waste of time, I blame Sonos.
I recently tried helping someone transfer $10k from US to different country. Only after signing up, filling in all the details, and going through the entire process, was there an error message that showed a Max of $800 could be transferred.
I then just advised to use their local bank's wire transfer, which they had to visit in person at the local branch, as they had originally intended.
Nowhere in my Google searches and Transferwise articles did I see any limitations upfront. Nor did I figure out how to raise these limits after searching post-filling-out-everything.
Very disappointed to say the least. But if anyone knows if I can raise the limit, would be happy to try this again.
In the context of nascent tech like this, most people just don't know the right questions to ask, unfortunately.
Perhaps in the near future we will be treated to a layman's explanation of the prevalent (and corrupt) usage of federated blockchains, 'exposed' in a Netflix doc. :)
