Maybe marijuana is good for relaxation and taking off stress, but it's damn bad for concentration, so I wouldn't recommend it on regular basis ;). Exercise however will definitely help.
Knowing food basics about carbs, fats and protein, basic vitamins and minerals, calories and food digestion can help a lot. It seems like a miracle but once you know of what consists your food your brain magically adapts and doesn't sense any pleasure emotions once you eat something unhealthy. Food Inc. movie changed in similar way my view on processed food in supermarkets.
I can also recommend South Beach Diet for you (http://www.amazon.com/South-Beach-Diet-Delicious-Doctor-Desi...). The book explains in simple terms how cravings occur (it mainly has to do with insulin levels and the digestion speed) and how to get rid of insulin (carb) spikes by replacing bad carbs and fats with good ones and balancing your diet.
And exercise is my personal recommendation, don't know the physics but for some reason it improves digestion and overall feeling.
HFT is a game of speed and low fees. Not a single individuals broker can offer substantial speed (microseconds count) and fees (cents count). It is a game for prime brokers and big institutionals. Moreover it is true that some exchanges (like NYSE) offer lower latencies for a serious monthly fee (not the one an individual can afford). Thus I don't think one person can solve all these complexities, however this topic is a good startup field with lots of ineffeciencies and unsolved problems.
Algorithmic trading is an option, though needs careful research on topics of broker setup (InteractiveBrokers should be a good starting point, ThinkOrSwim is another good one, both has rather tolerant programming APIs) and software for time series analysis and trading (among the most popular are Marketcetera and WealthLab + lots of libraries like Incanter and Weka). On some of these topics http://elitetrader.com forum should be helpful.
What a great news, thank you. I've been waiting for this feature for a long time and Things is really great, in terms of UI and features and GTD experience, more user-friendly than remember the milk IMO.
This is the one we use at work and it works like a breeze :). Very easy to use and you can vary flavors without cleaning the machine, which is as far as I know one of the main cons for automatic machines.
3 things for me that help clear the fog:
1. Nutrition, diet. Cut bad sugars and fats, increase protein (necessary for 2.), keep balanced meals, take vitamins and minerals if necessary.
2. Exercise. Aerobic (running, swimming, cycling) and anaerobic (weightlifting, pushups, squats).
3. Relaxation and rejuvenation. Meditation, massage, chillout/lounge music, fiction reading.
For more information there are plenty of books on amazon.com on these topics.
