Down here too (region West Europe)

Got the exact same thing here, using Gemini with an API key.

That's an interesting comment - I realized I have a gemini api key in my env.

`GEMINI_API_KEY="" gemini` + login using my Google account solves the problem.

That works for me, however, it automatically switches me to gemini-2.5-flash:

Slow response times detected. Automatically switching from gemini-2.5-pro to gemini-2.5-flash for faster responses for the remainder of this session.

To avoid this you can utilize a Gemini API Key. See: https://goo.gle/gemini-cli-docs-auth#gemini-api-key

You can switch authentication methods by typing /auth

Yeah I also just gave up. I'll revisit it in a week or so.

We're continuing to work on capacity, thanks for your patience!

No worries! hah

This is described in their FAQ. Running `xattr -d com.apple.quarantine '/Applications/Zen Browser.app/'` fixes the issue, see https://docs.zen-browser.app/faq#zen-browser-is-damaged-and-...

I'll suggest that bypassing Gatekeeper for an unknwon app from an unknown developer is a bad idea. I'll wait until they implement official code signing from Apple.

It also breaks support for integrating with the 1Password desktop app.

This feels like a strong signal that either

- this app won't see much adoption and will eventually fall out of maintenance, or

- the developers are going to be a pain in the ass to work with,

or both.

thats pretty unfair to the devs. You need a Developer ID through Apple, a mac, and you need to pay. Thats kind of a ridiculous expectation to begin with. Two of those things can be solved with money (a significant amount of money mind you, for the purpose of releasing a single application) and Apple can arbitrarily make the Dev ID process arduous and painful.

For anyone that would want to see that: ‘Mythbusters - Compressed diver’ https://youtu.be/LEY3fN4N3D8

Yeah. Reminds me of this underwater pressure awareness training video on youtube from a few years ago: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PXgKxWlTt8A (if you're squeemish, don't click that link)

Industrial divers / welders / etc get all kinds of training to avoid that stuff, for good reason.

I'm sure they never imagined this video being paired with an incident like this but wow, their joyful and excited reactions (with no context of the lead up to this experiment) feels really morbid/sick. I realize they were trying to prove a myth and it worked, but still found it unsettling.
