Having your RSS feeds built into the browser was elegant. It makes the internet feel alive in a way that I haven't been able to match since.
Getting news from Twitter, Flipboard etc. either has too much Personality and Brand attached to it, or is too curated. External RSS feed readers are removed from the browsing experience.
I'm not saying that it was especially practical, but it's similar to keeping htop visible even when I'm not actively monitoring processes. It makes me /feel/ closer to my computer just like the Rockmelt newsfeed made me /feel/ closer to the internet.
