Fortnite is mostly a kids game, who tend to not be running Linux (yet!).

My son plays Fortnite, and would love to play on a PC. My old MacBook Air doesn't support the game, and our next home laptop with be a Linux machine.

Not being able to play Fortnite on Linux is probably my son's current, great disappointment. :-P

Get him a Switch. Has Fortnite and other great games like Splatoon 2. Then he can take it around, put in on the TV, etc.

Switch being mobile is probably why I haven't bought it; we have WiiU, Wii, Gamecube, N64, but my kids if allowed would eschew being sociable in favour of playing Switch everywhere.

We could get it and not let them take it anywhere, but we moved to Steam on Linux pretty much.

That's when you use the Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app, with its charming video to introduce it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03bAayBtcb0

Plus, it's nice to play in the lounge with all the family. I'm glad to hear you have the previous consoles and can do so!
