The price gouging is enabled by the law. There is nothing like the pharmaceutical laws in the US. It is illegal for the world's biggest purchaser of drugs to be able to negotiate prices. It is the allegedly fiscally conservative Republicans who passed this law in 2003!!

In other countries you can import drugs etc....

None of the anti-competitive restrictions enshrined in law like the US exists anywhere.
