I think you'll find that Hacker News can be quite hostile to something viewed as "alternative" information, especially if it relates to certain companies. I found the article quite interesting and actually quite informative and evidence driven.

I mean, I thought it was nonsense, and we shouldn’t let the feelings of a bunch of birds stand in the way of the largest rocket launch in history.

But the discussion around it was valuable, and as said before, some of the topics raised by the author were actually issues.
